Born in Whanganui in 1963, Peter Gordon ONZM started collecting recipes at the age of four and never really stopped. His signature move of blending flavours and textures from around the world into a single dish made him a pioneer of fusion cuisine by the early 1990s. Chef Gordon is of Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāi Tahu descent, and he's built a remarkable life across the globe, honoured with his ONZM by Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle for his services to the food industry. But what makes Peter truly special is the generosity he brings to everything beyond the kitchen - charities, fundraisers, collaboration dinners, you name it - he'll always take up the opportunity to lend his skill and enrich those around him. He's cooked for Barack Obama, hosted two Prime Ministers at Downing Street, and now, he's channelling everything he knows into tackling food security and food poverty through his new role at Eat New Zealand. I am so delighted to have Peter Gordon hosting July's Kitchen Day session - he is a true Kiwi Treasure.
